That as the natural or carnal heart is at enmity with God and his law,
(1 Corinthians 2:12-14; James 1:23-25)

this enmity can be subdued
(Genesis 3:15; Romans 8:1-14; 1 John 3:4-10;)

only by a radical transformation of the affections,
(Matthew 19:27-30; Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 11:13-15)

the exchange of unholy for holy principles;
(Leviticus 10:9-12; 22:32; Ezekiel 22:8, 26; 44:23)

that this transformation follows repentance and faith,
(Acts 2:38; Titus 3:3-7)

is the special work of the Holy Spirit, and constitutes regeneration, or conversion.
(Galatians 6:7-10)
