Matthew 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

  • Genesis 2:21-22 – Eve, representing the Son, she was brought forth from the side of Adam (Proverbs 8:22-30, Daniel 2:45)
      • Eve was from the man (Genesis 2:22, John 7:29, 8:42, 16:27-30, 17:8)
      • Eve was “made” from the substance of Adam (Genesis 2:22, Philippians 2:5-7)
      • Eve was the glory of the man (1 Corinthians 11:7, John 17:5)
      • Adam declared Eve as equal, ‘bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh’ (Genesis 2:23, John 5:18)
      • Eve was a help meet (fit) for Adam (Genesis 2:20, Zechariah 6:13)
      • Adam gave her a name (Genesis 2:23, Hebrews 1:4-8)
      • Adam, as most men are, was taller (John 14:28)
      • Adam and Eve were “one” (Genesis 2:24, John 10:30)
  • Genesis 16:1-4 – Ishmael used to obscure the fact of the only begotten Son
  • Proverb 8:22-30 – “Set up from everlasting…”
  • Christ is the wisdom of God in 1 Corinthians 1:24, 30
  • Micah 5:2 – The only other time the Hebrew word for “goings forth” is used is in 2 Kings 10:26 which is translated “draught house” (a building separated from the main house)
  • “From everlasting” is not the same as “through” or “throughout” everlasting in the writings of EGW
  • Daniel 2:45 – The Stone, “cut out of the mountain without hands,” just as the Son was taken from the Father
  • Daniel 3:25 – How, in this end time chapter, did the faithful witness to the king? Try telling him that God is a Father with a Son
  • Matthew 3:17 – And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased
  • Matthew 17:5 – A voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him (Did the Father lie twice? Titus 1:2)
  • Matthew 4:3 – “If thou be the Son of God…” He didn’t say that He WASN’T the Son
  • Matthew 4:6 – “If thou be the Son of God…” Again, tempting Him with truth
  • Matthew 8:29 – “What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God?” They could easily have said, “We know you are NOT the Son of God!”
  • Matthew 14:33 – They worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
  • Matthew 21:42 – The Stone – A stone for building is from a mountain or larger stone
  • Mark 3:11 – Unclean spirits cried, saying, “Thou ART the Son of God”
  • Luke 4:41 – Devils crying out said “Thou art Christ the Son of God
  • This is why if “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble” (James 2:19). That one God has a Son
  • Luke 8:28 – What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high?
  • John 1:34 – And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God (the Baptist)
  • John 1:49 – Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God
  • John 3:18 – He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God
  • John 9:35 – Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? John 9:36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? John 9:37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. John 9:38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him
  • Did Christ trick this man into worshipping Him?
  • John 10:36 – Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
  • John 11:4 – When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby
  • John 11:27 – She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world
  • John 14:28 – How could Christ say His “Father is greater than” He if it were not true?
  • John 19:7 – The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God
  • John 20:31 – These are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name

  • Hebrews 12:23 – Calls the general assembly the “church of the firstborn”
  • 1 Cor. 15:27-28 – (The Father is bold, the Son is underlined) “For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. (28) And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
